Wii60 Impressions: Overlord
Not really having much information on this game other than it was guaranteed to be hilarious, I went ahead and downloaded the demo when it was released to day. I have certainly been blessed today by playing two of the best games in a long time; this and BiA DS.
Overlord is basically about you becoming well..an overlord. You control minions which you must use to overcome obstacles and defeat enemies. The game plays much in the same way as Pikmin does; but with no Pikmin 3 on the horizon, I’m not about to call foul on it.
The graphics are pretty neat, they could honestly be better but they’re visually pleasing anyway so its not a problem. The game is indeed funny! From the first line in the game I was laughing, don’t expect anything to be taken seriously here. “Rub acid in his eyes, that will liven him up!”
You sweep control the minions with your right analogue stick (a-la cstick on the Gamecube’s Pikmin) You may also target enemies and items with the left trigger and send them towards the target by tapping the right trigger.
Your main character isn’t completely defenseless however, you have an axe and spells to dispatch any enemies that dare to mess with you and your minions! The camera is certainly a little quirky - and you have no way of adjusting it yourself except for a snap to front left bumper tap. I think that rotating hte camera manually with the left and right bumpers would have worked better, so we’ll soon see if they add anything like that to the final game. You can also go for a top down view; again not unlike Pikmin.Definately a fun game, good music, good graphics and very funny writing. Try out the demo yourself and let us know what you think!

You can adjust the camera with the right stick, you just have to hold LB while you do it, and if you press the right stick you can select one of two different views, the default one from behind the character and one from above
