Word is that Nintendo are banning people using Action Replay on Pokemon. So far the codes that have been used by banned players are:

In my opinion, Nintendo is doing the right thing. Cheating and/or hacking online isn’t right. Nintendo has every right to ban those that don’t play fair on Wi-Fi. Doing that ruins the online gaming experience.

I really want to know more about this. Are they banning when you connect to wi-fi alltogether or just when you try to trade a hacked pokemon. Since the game’s battles are friends only they shouldn’t be allowed to ban the user for using hacked pokemon in a battle. Most of my friends have AR and we do crazy legendary battles all of the time, but when we agree on it. They really need to focus on the hackers in the random battle games. You know, the games where the player has no idea if his oponent will hack or not.

i think all the people who hack should have a seperate room for battleing random people who dont hack. if they can tell who hacked to ban them then they should be able to see if the hacker has any hacked pokemon in there party when they try to go online.

moemoe567: You obviously haven’t read up on this. A long time ago, Gameshark was taken to court for console hacking. The court rules that once the consumer bought the console, using a cheat device wasn’t illegal.

Sigh. Of course banning consumers is correct. One day you might learn about something called supply and demand.
If you sue Action Replay, and they shut down, at least 10 more companies will form to replace them. If you ban the consumers, they will get the idea that cheating is bad, and stop demanding cheats. If cheat devices aren’t being demanded, not only will Action Replay be forced to close but no other companies will attempt to compete in a dead market to try to take its place.

Yeah, Nintendo has done that before when they sued Galoob over the Game Genie. Courts said Galoob wasn’t at fault at all. Meanwhile, Sega benefitted from it by endorsing Game Genie.

Nintendo can’t sue Datel over action replays because The action replay isn’t made for online play.It is not there fault that someone used it to hack pokemon.Action replays have a label that says ‘use at your own risk’ meaning they have nothing to do with it once you buy it.Anyone can hack pokemon with or without a action replay because all you need is some simple hardware to make a action replay a simple yet effective way and the numbers needed to hack.People can find these numbers out by themselves with the right kind of software that you can download for free.

I feel conflicted by this because i got the national dex, but after that it was hard to find people to trade other region pokemon with so i used a friends are to fill out the pokedex so that i could at least go to the gts and trade, and dispite what people say about the place i have managed to nearly to get all of the pokemon (i used my own checklist). My friend just uses his ar to battle his legends with other fc people, but its agreed upon and he doesn’t plan on using them on the wii pokemon nor does he trade hack pokemon but for people like me who used it once just to get out of a stuck spot i don’t want to get banned, but i do agree there are those who use it to a unfair extreme so i just feel undecided about it :(

Good! If people want to use cheat devices, they should do it without interacting with other, legitimate players online and ruining our fun. Banning the cheaters from WFC keeps them separate from us, as it should be. At least they can still mess around with their friends over local wireless.

Guys whoever is saying action replayers arent good at gaming your a bunch of FAGS!!! I have it myself. I first beat the game legitaly then i use action replay. Whats this talk about WIFI. All you do is basically battle your friends. Nintendo just made it sound cooler. And you will propably let your freinds use action replay to. I dont use codes that duplicate or make pokemon, i just use 999 rare candies and stuff like that. And dont tell me you havent even thought about using action replay. And GTS, your just making those outrageous deals like a lvl100 dialga for a freakin ralts or something like that, and if you receive a lvl100 hacked pokemon, so what! That person just went through the process much quicker. And completing the national dex how are you suppose to do it without seeing em all 1st. To nintendo if you ban people for using this i will never buy a nintendo product again. Also its their game they should be able to do what they want to it. And nobody has the money to fly to NY for a freakin POKEMON GAME! Its just pokemon. And if you do fly there you are a huge nerd!

I hope Nintendo sees fairness in the Action Replay. I bought cheat devices after knowing that I will never be able to finish my games fully unless I’ve linked. Having no friends to link with is depressing in knowing you can’t fullfill the object of the game - may as well give up completely. Thus I use it when I’m in a pickle requiring an imaginary link. The games that require friends to play seem unfair, a program that plays as a friend to you can only equalize the fairness.

2. they will also use it to freakin get 500 masterballs.
wtf? why would you want to waste 20 freakin dollars to buy a action replay i mean after the game is finished you have every pokemon what are you going to do then? but i understand about arceus…

If they are banning people… there should be some kind of warning! They can’t just halt your wi-fi connection because you’ve got some rare pokemon…
I never used the hacks myself but I traded with a freind who has, does that mean I’m going to be banned??!? All I really have is one shiny pokemon and a “hacked” legendary…
I find it illegal for the nintendo company to halt your wi-fi connection for using AR with a freind or by yourself….

Game producers should already know that any game you make there’s bound to be chaters/hackers don’t bother trying to stop it, because it’ll get worse. Remember playing Tag and yuour friend would say “No you didnt tag me” or something like that? It’s childish..So in my opinion I don’t think they should ban people off WiFi because rumor will get around and people would make fun of nintendo…

kind weird but when i had my firewall down, and everything with my AR in my DS with pokemon on I was going to sign on WFC connection and it booted me. so I restarted it without the AR and it worked…Maybe they’re starting to ban people already?

Most people buy cheating devices because they’re either horrible videogamers, or actually want to see more options the game has availiable like the legit (not really legit since you’re using AR) Shaymin glitch, but these stuff noramlly isn’t fun gamers get bored after they beat a game. getting a hack device like the oldschool gameshark, or AR, or Codebreaker whatever…Just brings back the magic to the game. So Nintendo should be quiet and enjoy that Pokemon is still one on the biggest franchises in the world.

most people hack because they want cool pokemon (would you rather play sucky one?) or those who doesn’t have friends to trade with. Some have to buy two consoles, two games to able to get what they want. AR is just simply easy way out, this is why they continue buying pokemon game every time new one come out and if nintendo ban them because of it. Think of how many fans you loose. It true that the game took two years to make it…but you did make moneys out of it and believe me you next pokemon game won’t be much sold as the old pokemon games if continue banning peoples just because they using AR or other cheat devices.

I think the only reason they’re doing this is because of the new AR code which lets you catch your opponents pokemon(like in XD). Its fair for the people who get their pokemon stolen in battle by someone thousands of miles away, but those of us who dnt use this particular cheat are screwed.

Personally I wouldn’t cheat if Nintendo would quit making it so you have to go to one of their events just to get a pokemon you can’t get elsewhere. That is whats bogus. Basically there has never been one of the events close to me, if there has I never knew about it, so short of hacking I have never gotten a complete pokedex. Shoot right now I can’t get one even with WiFi. I see alot of people are asking for Mew on WiFi but when I try and do the same thing it doesn’t even give me the option of selecting Mew to recieve in trade. Not sure how others can.
Nintendo if your reading this your events are stupid when only a select few can get the exclusive pokemon at those events. In all fairness you really should find another way of giving out those exclusive pokemon so that you don’t exclude people who can’t get to your events.
If they would do that I would definately not get AR.

I don’t think Nintendo should ban people for using AR. Its true what APhantasm says, some people can’t go to those events because they’re not close to where they live. Nintendo really can’t do anything about cheaters because once they sell it, its the person’s game now so they can do whatever they want with it, no questions asked! Pokemon does get super boring after a while once they pass the game, and its really hard to get all the pokemon there is to get because some of the people don’t have anyone near by to trade pokemon with them, and in order to fill you’re whole pokedex you need 2 DS and 2 game cards, that is really expensive for those of us who can’t afford all that. Also, if they ban those who have hacked pokemon, then it isn’t fair for the ones who didn’t hack because if they get a hacked pokemon traded, then they’ll get banned too even though they didn’t do anything to diserve it. I’m sure Nintendo will surely lose a lot of customers if they start banning people because no matter what, people will cheat, always and forever, there’s nothing no one can do about that, if they want to cheat, then just do it! Its your game, no one else cares what happens to it if it gets messed up. You should just forget about the whole banning thing and let people do what they want!!
Oh and by the way, I have an AR and I think its AWESOME!

1. nintendo owns the system they use for you to get online and battle people.
2. i hated it when i battled some on wifi and they hacked there pokeomn to kill me in one hit which i don’t know how they did it but i sucked.
3.they should only ban people that use hacked pokemon on places like battle tower where you batlle random people not your friends.
4.they should not ban you if you hattle with friends using wifi.

Hey John, assuming you actually work at Nintendo, how do you trade for Mew when GTS doesn’t offer it as a selection. I am sorry but it is a load of BS when the only way to get select pokemon is via hacking.

Personally I always found it a load of BS that you either have to be lucky and actually live in a town with an event. Or be rich enough to travel the world just to go to these events. I have never been lucky and as far as I know there has never been an event in the nearest Metropolitan city, Springfield Missouri, even near me. It wouldn’t surprise me if the only events ever held in Missouri were either in Kansas City or St. Louis. Both would cost at current gas prices at least a hundred bucks in gas. Kinda expensive for one stupid event.
You want to know how I felt when I found out my Pokemon Yellow could not be completed cause it missed one Pokemon cause I could not get to a stupid event. I felt cheated. I paid money for the thing and then I can’t complete the game that is just wrong. Which is why I ended getting the Monster Brain for RBY/GSC as that was the only way I could get Mew or Celebi.
I would highly suggest the next game you all put out doesn’t have that all exclusive pokemon that can’t be gotten elsewhere so that its fair to all.
And I would say the solution to that same problem now is to turn on the Mystery Gift feature and start handing out the legendaries like Mew, Celebi, Deoxys, etc.

Actually yes I did. There is more then one way to trade. It is true that if Mew isn’t in your Dex you can’t trade for it via the GTS.
You have forgotten about the basement of the Pokecenter. With the basement you don’t need to have seen it. The basement is just like the upstairs. You can trade with no Dex Requirement as is the case with GTS.
I saw on eBay someone selling Mew and I thought since I probably wouldn’t get it another way I will go ahead and pay the $3. So when I won the auction I gave him my friend code and he gave me his and boom we traded. He gave me the Mew I had won.
For the basement you can trade with anyone as long as you know the other persons friend code and have access to the internet via a wireless router.

Also thats what my forum I started up is for. For trading through the basement of the Pokecenter not the GTS. As long as you have a friend code you can trade with just about anyone without going through GTS. You can get those pokemon you might not have been able to get before due to the GTS Dex Requirement.
In fact Daman if you give me a couple days I could probably get you a Mew the same way I got mine.

I don’t buy it.
Simple reasons: Not credible sources, no comments from Nintendo, no public outcry of people getting banned for using an AR (and if people -were- getting banned, there’s be more then just some rumors here and there).
As well, there is no real point to banning people from using what is technically a free service.
Another point against: Nintendo doesn’t have any warnings about getting banned for using an AR, nor any EULA that specifies that you are going to be banned for breaking any rules… rules that don’t really exist for the use of their service, AFAIK, as those would be set out in a EULA anyway.
Though I do have one question: Concerning the ‘All Shiney’ code.
There are two versions: One that changes all pokémon you own into shineys, and one that gives you shineys in the wild (specifically, it makes the game recalculate the stats in each encounter -until- the pokémon is a shiney… an assumption, as the code makes a random-length pause before each encounter). Which version do the rumors say is causing these ‘bannings’?

I haven’t bought the game yet, as it is released in Europe on friday, but I think banning AR is both the right thing to do and legal. Just look at some other games, like Blizzard who has a free online service to find multiplayer games. They ban you on the spot if you cheat. Its the same thing here. They may sell you the game, but they still own the online service.

Jmm you are such an idiot. The Dex requirement you speak of only is with the GTS. You can trade pokemon in the pokecenter, in either basemont or union room without any such requirement. If you don’t believe me go find someone to trade with that doesn’t have a pokemon you haven’t seen.
Now to an extent I do agree with you that hackers should be restricted on the online servers. Mostly in the online battles. Thats why I don’t partipate in the online battles cause of hackers. They can with the right codes have super strong pokemon and KO you in one shot. Or like you said with the right code steal your pokemon you raised. But in the GTS and Pokecenter Basement that is a different store all together. Bad thing is that if Nintendo is banning them it is from trading not , from the online battles. At least that is what I’ve heard.
I don’t have nothing against hackers either. I have seen hackers actually be beneficial to a game. In fact there was one MMORPG that had been hacked. In fact some of the hacks that the hackers created for it the design team for the MMORPG turned around and used them themselves to better the game.
BTW JMM do you know when the events are scheduled cause I sure as heck don’t. So don’t tell me about contenting to it via WIFI when I don’t know when to be online. You get me something that shows when said dates are then I will do it. Another thing I don’t get about you is how do you not enjoy the game cause of hackers. Only 10 percent of the game is like online. This is 90 percent offline only trading and the online battles are via wifi. I enjoy the game regardless.
BTW I don’t have AR for Pearl/Diamond. And unless it has a save game feature I don’t plan to get one either. I don’t like to cheat but that doesn’t mean I’m above it if the necessity arises either. So far with Pearl and Diamond the necessity has not arisen since I should be able to trade via the GT or Pokecenter basement.

Using AR is not “hacking”, I think. I personally believe it’s just… tweaking the game a little bit.
Therefore, it’s ok to use that gameshark, action replay, or whatever, just so you have more things to do and obtain, go for little bits you couldnt before. That’s my own opinion, please don’t start yelling at me!!! TT^TT
Cheating may be wrong, but I think the main problem is getting all the good stuff from the events, ONLY. What do you do, then? Be stuck with an incomplete game forever until you get enough money for the actual event (and possibly the airplane ride??? If it’s that far away)???
I’m sure both sides understand the pros and cons of one another…

That $1600 includes one or two nights at a hotel depending on when you arrive there as well as your round trip ticket. That price is for Aug 30 through Sept 2nd. Just FYI but I had also priced it for July 30th through Aug 1st and it was over $3000 for that short notice. Again that includes hotel.
Still its quite high. I personally am hoping I find that someone who has one and lets me have it before I have to resort to using Action Replay to get it.

i did it without the cheats on my diamond it took 3 years to get all the pokemon but on my pearl i felt like messing around and making videos of me using cheats so it is really stupid because everyone can still get the codes they cant monater ever pokemon cheat site in the world that is illegal and you can get arrested for doing things without permission from the website so hahahhahahaha nintendo in your face :P and :O you got told. :{ are you sad now well good

I find it fun to try to beat ppl who cheat, sometimes you royally lose and its funny when its some insanely strong thing u could never beat anyway, i also enjoy the challenge…
I also play Halo on the cpu and I like to go against ppl who r modding just for the challenge, and its especially funny when u own them and u know they r cheating… lol :)
I say let the cheaters play, if u r a good sport, or a good player then even playing against cheaters is fun :)
So dont ban them! Anyone who was bitching about them, just stop your crying already! I dont cheat yet I love playing against ppl who do.

My friend has a spiritomb with wonder guard with 999 hp and all other stats… I have a spiritomb with all starter’s best attacks (blast burn, frenzy plant, hydro cannon) and with wonder guard. I just say cmon. I dont even have wifi and now i dont want it. Leave hackers like me hacking. I live in brazil. When will be the next event in brazil? Or in rio de janeiro? Pathetic what nintendo is doing. When my father allows me, IM MAKIN A WIFI SERVER FOR HACKERS-ONLY!!!

I really hate people who use AR in Metroid Prime Hunters= infinite health, death alt and the Omega cannon- Come on! How are real players supposed to play against that? Ban those losers- I really dont care about the people who use AR in the pokemon games. :P
