The Crossing Heading To 360

Saturday, February 17th, 2007

Previously announced for the PC, the crossing promises to “Fuse single player with multiplayer” in a game that imagines “What if the knights templar had survived?” Certainly an interesting looking game, and a great addition to the 360 line-up. Check out this video over at youtube and let us know what you think.

From Jeux-France  and translated below:

Announced recently on PC, The Crossing will be also appear on Xbox 360. Arkane Studios is searching for a new programmer to help porting the game to Microsoft’s console. The Crossing will take us along medieval and modern-day Paris in full chaos following the dissolution of the government. Players will be able to incarnate characters and mythical creatures that partake in the game’s story.

Super Paper Mario Dated, and Also Boxart!

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Good times for Nintendo’s Wii, good times.

“Nintendo just announced that Super Paper Mario will be hitting the Wii on April 9. The game was originally set for the Gamecube, but wouldn’t that be silly. Yes, we need some straight up classic Mario action on the Wii. Hopefully this game wasn’t already nearing completion when they made the shift. I guess we’ll know in a few months.

Can you say hype machine? Thank you to Ace-747 at the forums for tipping us off.

New “Everybody Votes” Channel Live on Wii

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

Taken right from BrainBox’s thread:

After some intital confusion it has been confirmed a new Wii Channel called “Everybody Votes Channel” is now ready for download at the Shop Channel under Wii Ware. It is free of charge and will require a minor firmware update for the parental controls after downloading it.

The Vote Channel’s purpose seems to be voting in polls. After loading it you’ll be asked what Region you live in, similar to the Weather Channel, and be asked to register at least on Mii as a voter. (You can have up to six registered at a time.)

It seems like it’ll be updated somewhat regularly since every poll has a time limit ranging from a day to a week. Every question has two choices, and the first set of polls are fairly frivolous, ranging from which century you’d rather live in and what makes a more romantic Valentine’s Day gift. You vote just by dragging a Mii onto a choice, then are prompted if you want to try and predict which choice will receive more votes.

For the time being seems a bit pointless, but honestly, I’m more excited for the possibilities.  Now Nintendo can ask its users questions directly, such as what sorts of features we’d like to see and other such things based on service and games.  I hope they have a poll asking if we’d like more hair options for Mii’s.  I tried to make one of Stan Lee the other day, but it didn’t work out so well.  I at least got one of Will Wright, though!

Thanks to BrainBoxLtd for pointing it out in this thread.

Sadness Plot Details Revealed

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007
Within the game you will take control of a character known as Maria who has just survived a serious train crash.

Maria is left in control of her borther Alexander, who was blinded from the crash and it is from here that the game takes a serious twist as the boy starts to act a little weird.

The game will be played without any weapons - it will be down to Maria and Alexander to make use of environmental objects as they make their way through the game.

Sadness is rumoured to have 10 different endings and will last around 15 hours each time.

Nibris are developing this game exclusively for the Wii, contrary to such rumours floating around the Internet that Sony want to buy the rights to the game and make it an exclusive for PS3.

It has also been confirmed that Nibris are working with psychologists to make this game as scary as possible.

Apparantly there’s a use for a B.A. in Psychology after all.  ZING!

Thanks to Olly from the forums for the heads up!  Source is NintendoLife and the original thread can be found here.

Quake Wars Coming to Xbox 360!

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

So the fact that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars has been a PC exclusive seemed a bit tragic to me…until now.

The war between the GDF and Strogg will soon be igniting on next-generation consoles as id Software and Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATVI) today confirmed that Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars(TM), the team-based first person action title, and already one of the most anticipated new properties of 2007 is coming to next-gen platforms. In this epic multiplayer-focused game, players can choose to defend humanity as a part of the Global Defense Force (GDF) or destroy it as a merciless Strogg alien invader. Under the executive production of id Software, Nerve Software is developing Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars for the Xbox 360(TM) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, while Z-Axis is the developer for the PLAYSTATION(R)3 computer entertainment system.

There aren’t many games that make me wish to play online multiplayer, but this game seriously makes me crave it. Already in one of my top ten most wanted.

Thanks to Kenny K for the heads up. You can read more about it here.

Star Wars: Force Unleashed Details

Monday, February 12th, 2007

I had all but forgotten about this game with all of the holiday releases, my busy schedule and recent alcohol addiction, but alas more details are finally worming their way out of the woodwork! Check out the info from QJ below:

1. The game time-line takes place between episode Star Wars Episode III and IV, with Darth Vader now training an apprentice he plots to use to destroy the Emperor. The player takes on the role of this said apprentice.
2. As an apprentice, your task under Vader will be partly to help hunt down the remaining Jedi in the Galaxy - expect appearances from famed Jedi Masters like Shaak Ti.
3. Force abilities are going to get some major balancing work. i.e. The “Repulsion” force ability take a few seconds to charge up, whereas the ever-famous “Force Push” gets a faster charge time.
4. Rancors are in the game. And yes - they can eat you like they did that poor Gamorrean guard in Return of the Jedi.
5. Vader is a playable character.
6. There’s a multiplayer mode on the works
7. The game is set for a US release this November 2007.

Not a bad release date at all, I look forward to this game a hell of a lot. Seems I haven’t had any fun with a SW game since Rebel Commandos.

Shivering Isles Comes With A Cool 250 Points

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Thats right, Shivering Isles will feature an extra 250 gamerpoints attainable through the completion of 10 achievements. Check out the QJ report below:

Bethesda just confirmed with Gaming Bits that the upcoming Shivering Isles expansion will be offering an additional 250 Gamerscore points to be won in a total of 10 Achievements. With that, the total number of points you can get from the whole of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is bumped up to 1,250.

Hey, on top of everything you could ever do in the Oblivion game, the extra 30 hours of new gameplay in the expansion is well worth the 250 points. As with the tons of downloadable content Bethesda’s released for the fans, Shivering Isles will be available on Xbox Live, set to come out sometime this Spring.

Nifty, enjoy the points guys! (If you can get them ;) )
