Forza 2 DLC Headed Your Way!

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

These new cars should be on the marketplace by the time all you early birds wake up tomorrow.

“Thanks to Xbox LIVE, Nissan, and the folks here at Turn 10, the very first downloadable content for Xbox 360’s acclaimed racer “Forza Motorsport 2â€? will be available tonight (or tomorrow morning) 8/1 2AM PST. Speed over to Xbox LIVE Marketplace tomorrow morning to download the all new free Nissan car pack featuring three premiere Nissan models: the 2007 Sentra SE-R, Altima, and 350Z.
To celebrate this release, Xbox and Nissan will be hosting several activities for Forza 2 fans in the U.S. focused around these new additions to “Forza Motorsport 2’sâ€? already robust car list. The first of these activities will be a Nissan Sentra SE-R tournament on Xbox LIVE. In addition to the tournament, Nissan and Xbox will also be hosting an in-game customization contest, as fans utilize the incredibly deep livery system of “Forza Motorsport 2â€? to create unique and stunning paint jobs on their Nissan Sentra SE-Rs. The contest will be judged by a panel comprised of Turn 10 developers and Nissan representatives, as fans vie for the title of ultimate Nissan customizer. On top of the awesome free car pack from Nissan, we’re also offering the famed Peugeot 908 race car for download on Xbox LIVE Marketplace (50 MS points). Coming off a second place finish at the recent 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 908 not only brings yet another top-notch race car to the Forza universe, but it is also the only paintable race car to be included in the game.”

Cartoon Networking with Fusion Fall

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Another tidbit from Polychrome’s recent return from Comic Con was her hands on time with Fusion Fall for the PC. It’s MMO set in a somewhat combined Cartoon Network world. Here’s a snippet of what she found.

The premise of the game is a bit on the silly side. Earth’s about to be assimilated by some weird blob of planets that have crashed into each other, and it shows a lot of *obvious* Toontown inspiration, but I got to try a gameplay demo, and I have to say that the work these guys have done is amazing, and the game will be smooth and enjoyable. It is skill based, and skills are based on collecting “nanos” (chibi versions of CN characters that float above your head). Each Nano has a spell or attack that will help you, but you can only take three with you at a time.

The *real* CN characters send you off on storyline-based missions. You can do missions for either good or evil characters, and you can play both sides if you wish. The premise of the game involves the fact that evil characters aren’t exactly immune to Earth getting sucked into a mass of planets either, so no matter which faction you lean towards, you’re helping save the day.

The game is *very* twitchy, uses the standard WASD control scheme, plays quite a bit like Phantasy Star Universe, and…oh yeah, Grim will turn up when you die.

PvP is still in conceptual stages (they haven’t finalized whether they’re even going to do it), but I can easily see it done with the combat system. With the controls and gameplay, it would likely be as frantic as playing Halo!

Ben 10 Wii: Impressions

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

In addition to breaking the news on the DS version of Viva Pinata, Polychrome has also posted her impressions of the Ben 10 Wii game she played at Comic-Con. Here’s a sample of what she thought. She did remind me, she’s the optimistic type.

In the same vein as yelling “OBJECTION” into your DS, an obligatory, tacked-on gimmick allows you to change form by thwacking your own wrist with the Wiimote instead of by using the controls. It’ll provide plenty of enjoyment for anybody who wishes they had an Omnitrix of their own.

I managed to get through a level without much trouble. I didn’t completely figure out the controls, but swinging the Wiimote punches and assorted button combinations will pull off more advanced moves. The level design is a bit like adventure mode in Smash Bros.

Overall, gameplay ran pretty smooth, but not all aliens were accessible in the Demo. Some aliens are more vulnerable to injury than others. Overuse of specials will cause the Omnitrix to time out quicker than usual. Forcing Ben to fight as a human actually makes for some interesting gameplay.

When this game comes out, I say learn to fight as a human first, because you’re gonna need it!

Yet More 360 Price Cut Proof

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Marking the third flier advertising a cheaper 360, Invader Phlegm has found pictures of Circuit City’s ad on Joystiq. Unlike the last two, this one also advertises a 30$ drop in the Elite and a $20 cut for the Core Package. Also it advertises a free copy of Rockstar Table Tennis for the Premium model.

Still no “official word, all though you do have to wonder if we need it at this point. Feel free to discuss it in the forums.

Lionhead Celebrates Their 10th Anniversary - New Fable2 Video

Monday, July 30th, 2007

Take a Fun-Filled Behind the Scenes Tour of the “Fable 2″ Combat System and Meet the Team that has been Creating Games for Over a Decade

Get up close and personal with team at Lionhead, currently celebrating the studio’s 10th Anniversary and working on “Fable 2″ for Xbox 360, the highly-anticipated follow up to the best-selling, Xbox exclusive “Fable”. Episode Two highlights the innovative one-button combat system that gamers will experience in the sequel.

Slated for a 2008 release, “Fable 2″ represents the studio’s 10-year dedication to creating some of the best and most beloved video games in the industry.

With the release of Episode Two, listen to Molyneux and the rest of the Lionhead team tell comical anecdotes about their “real-life” combat encounters and meet an eclectic “sword” master whom the studio hired to demonstrate how “real sword fighting is done.” Strangely enough, several members of the Lionhead team own life-size metal weapons, which allowed for daily parking lot meetings and additional comedic relief. To round out their focus on combat, fellow UK developer’s Lionhead and Rare played an intense, yet good-natured game of football (soccer), where there was no shortage of fun and/or combat.

Every choice continually defines who the character becomes in “Fable 2,” allowing players to truly live the life they choose.

The video is all about Fable 2 and the one button combat. I’m not too sure about this as they said that they want it to feel real.. but you sit back and just have to hit one button? Check it out, you get to see some gameplay stuff. Go to our forums here to get to video.
