THEY

Monday, July 30th, 2007

What’s They? Well it’s somewhat of a mystery actually. Golden Sun 3 has clued us in that it’s a new FPS being made for PC and Next-Gen Systems. Judging from the screenshot that probably means the 360 and the PS3. An extremely vague press release from a company called IMC was put out advertising the new title, while avoiding much specific detail. It is known it’s an 2008/2009 title and we’ll be shown at a closed door presentation at the Leipzig Games Convention in late August.

Here’s some highlight from the Press Release.

“THEY” features a technically future minded 3D engine with next generation effects, brand new gameplay elements and a revolutionary weapon system to survive the challenges ahead! But always remember: Nothing is as it seems!

Facts and features:

Title: THEY
Platforms: PC & next generation console
Release date: 2008/2009
Genre: First person mystery shooter
Scenario: Near Future

- next generation 3D engine
- unique weapon system that makes you „love” your weapons
- mysterious science fiction background story
- diversified enemies - thrilling and intelligent
- heroes to identify with
- heavy usage of physics
- destructible environment relevant for gameplay
- haunting single player mode
- versatile multiplayer modes

Doesn’t sound like it’s related to the cult Horror film THEM, but still sounds pretty cool. You can speculate on what THEY are in the forums.

Viva Pinata for the DS?

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Our member Polychrome visited Rare’s panel at Comic Con and discovered that not only is there a DS version of Viva Pinata in the works, it’s actually mostly finished except for testing. Here’s the details she’s posted.

  • All the romance dances and other clips are in the game.
  • Upper screen will hold all events and clock, lower screen will have actual gameplay.
  • No release date yet, but I’d expect it will be very soon.
  • Selected animals appear in upper screen with a picture of the animal and their status.

Watch for more later in the forums.

More 360 Price Cut Proof

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

NewBornThreat found another picture of a flier advertising the 360 for $350. This one belongs to Toys’R'Us and comes from Cheap Ass Gamer and the actual flier is for the week beginning Sunday, Aug. 12. This syncs up with the previous flier from Wal-Mart and the rumor of a price drop in early August, so it seems more then likely at this point. You can discuss it in the forums.

Rumor: 360 Price Cut (Yet Again)

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

I’ve been hesitant about considering this news, but it’s at least not worthy as a rumor. The picture above, brought to our attention by NewBornThreat, comes out of MaxConsole.net. It’s a Wal-Mart flier that advertises the Premium 360 at $349.

Whenever or not this is both true, and not just for a single store, we’re not sure. A similar Circuit City brochure was the whistle blower for the PS3 Price drop, and recently there has been a rumor the 360 would see a price drop in August. Still, for the time it’s just a rumor. You can talk about it in the forums.

Speed Racer - The Movie - The Game for Wii

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

That’s right, a Speed Racer game for the Wii, that’s based on the movie adaptation. What movie? Well according to Joel Silver (he produced the Matrix Trilogy) the Wachowskis Brothers (They made the Matrix Trilogy) are making a film adaptation to what I assume is the same Speed Racer we remember from the 80’s, and they are also making a Wii game to along with it.

I’m fairly certain there’s no combination of the above I actually like. However, it gets better, as Mr. Silver explained to IGN.

“I don’t know if this is all going to happen, but they had hoped you could take the Wii and create your own track on the Wii and then when you create that track the cars can drive on the track you create. I may be saying the wrong things, but the interactivity is in another way to use the technology too. If you want to make a square track, you can do that and the cars will move on that.”

Astounding, no? Tell us what you think.

New Forever Blue Video

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

A possible spiritual sequel to the EverBlue series, this new movie reveals more details about Forever Blue, or Endless Ocean as it was renamed in the states. It seems only the Wii Remote is used to play the game. Forever Blue also appears to have an educational quality since you can review information on creatures you can encounter or just pet them using the remote. A cutscene on a boat between two people suggests the game has some sort of story or narrative as well.

Famitsu recently reviewed the game, giving it a 10/8/9/8 score, or 35/40. If only it wasn’t Famitsu, that might be more telling. Still you can discuss the movie in the forums.

Postal 3 Video

Heres a video on Gametrailers of a game that I’ve never seen. Judging by the gameplay and the “Postal 3″ tag at the end.. I guess its Postal 3.

Lego Indiana Jones Announced

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

Traveller’s Tales has announced Lego Indiana Jones at Comic-Con International. The same group resonsible for the Lego Star Wars series are moving onto another Lucas film. The game covers Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Temple of Doom and the Last Crusade and will be released in 2008.

It wasn’t specficed which consoles exactly, but considering Lego Star Wars was multiplatform, it’s a good bet this will probably be aswell. This marks another addition in the growing Lego series of games. In March, Warner Brothers announced Lego Batman, and there’s still a Lego MMORPG on the way. Thanks for the tip MostSpartan 14.

All though there’s not a set date for the game, actual Indiana Jones Lego play sets will be out in January of 2008. You can check out the trailer at GameTrailers.com, and discuss the new adventure in the forums.
