Capcom’s TGS Showings

Friday, August 31st, 2007

We just got through, who knows how many big events and already our precious break is rapidly dwindling. Tokyo Game Show is right around the corner and naturally people are starting to give the public some insight as to what we can expect.

Capcom just launched a site which reveals the titles we can expect from them at the huge public affair. You will see some known titles, but there are three in the list that are new. The list consists of the following.

Devil May Cry 4 (Xbox 360, PS3)
We Love Golf! (Wii)
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure (Wii)
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)
Sengoku Basara 2 HEROES (PS2)
Mega Man Star Force 2 (DS)
Wantame Music Channel Doko Demo Style (DS)

It would be awesome if Resident Evil 5 was on that list, but it will most likely end up behind closed doors if it even makes it to the event. Three new titles are a pleasant surprise though.

Nights 2: Journey Into Pain Trailer?

Friday, August 31st, 2007

I hate to follow up that Mafia trailer with what you’re about to see, but it has to be done. What you’re about to witness is the cheesiest, most bizzare and ..mystifying trailer ever created. Trying to figure out the target audience I’ve wittled it down to either Japanese schoolchildren aged 3-7, or patients in certain asylums. Check it out over the link; if you can even begin to dare.

GOW Hidden Fronts Map Pack Free Starting Monday

Friday, August 31st, 2007

131518.jpg

Were you one of the people that held out on purchasing the “Hidden Fronts” map pack for Gears of War back when it was released? There were not too many of you seeing as how over 500, 000 people have downloaded it, making it the best selling piece of downloadable content on XBLM. Well if you waited, this Monday is when your patience, or cheapness, will pay off because the map pack will become free.

Here are some brief details on each map to refresh your memory.

Bullet Marsh
In this Kryll-infested swamp, an old generator still powers the area lights. A few stray bullets could easily knock out the generator, leaving combatants to fend for themselves against the Kryll.

Garden
This overgrown and crumbling conservatory still has a working fertilization and pesticide system. This system can pose a serious hazard to anyone who ventures into the greenhouse without first venting the air.

Process
Fight for control of this subterranean Imulsion processing plant, still active despite the cessation of the Pendulum wars.

Subway
Timgad ’s Central Subway station used to serve as a central hub for commuters. Now the tunnels are crawling with Locust.

Guitar Hero Online For Wii Unconfirmed…For Now

Friday, August 31st, 2007

wiighiii.jpg

It seems as though Nintendo stumbled with their online service. Whether it be the friend codes or lack of support, developers look as though they are having difficulty creating a worth while online experience for the Wii.

The latest to have problems is Neversoft. At the beginning of development, online play was confirmed for the title across all 3 platforms. The developers might have been quick to call it seeing as they are having issues which will affect not just online play, but downloadable content as well. A representative had the following to say.

we’re working closely with Nintendo for an online solution, though at the moment we’re unable to confirm the status of the online multi-player.

Unfortunately, I was planning on getting the Wii version of the game but it looks as if I will pick up a 360 copy instead. Lets hope they can reach a quick and easy solution in time for launch.

Kane & Lynch Gets Movie Adaptation

Friday, August 31st, 2007

kl_header-thumb.jpg

Not much is known at the moment about Kane & Lynch the game. What we have to go on are the crumbs the press is feeding us, the trailers and awesome gameplay videos. The one Strong point we know of for this title is its gripping story due to a feature trailer which released recently.

IGN Movies recently discovered that Lions Gate has acquired a script written by Kyle Ward. He only has one other movie under his belt, Fiasco Heights, which is currently in development. Knowing that his script beat out another leaves some warm feelings as we can expect a great movie. Best thing about this news is that the script is said to follow the games plot and from what we have seen of the game, this will be fantastic.

When Trauma Center finally released in the UK and Europe a few weeks ago, I was excited to finally be able to get the chance to play and review the game. It had been eight to nine months since I had seen it released in the US though having played it on the DS; I wasn’t too bothered about the delays, and I figured I’d write up a review when it finally released in the UK. Having sat through five or six delays though, I was getting pretty tired, even uninterested!

It arrived in the mail a few days ago and I instantly put it into my Wii and fired it up. I was instantly impressed with the way it looked on my HDTV. Having been disappointed with the way some Wii games looked via component, I was pleasantly surprised. The usualscreen04.jpg problems that occur are things looking blurred, tons of aliasing and appearing pretty washed out. While the game obviously isn’t graphically demanding, things look crisp, colourful and wonderfully presentable.
