Aces of the Galaxy and Roogoo Out Today!

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

roogoo.jpg

Well, among yet another shooter it seems we have quite the interesting new title, known as Roogoo. It contains geometry, a word that scares some of use, but the current reviews claim it a decent puzzler. It is a definite try in my book, because the gameplay looks interesting and fresh. If you’re a fan of puzzlers, take a look at Roogoo. If, however, you’re not tired of the countless Arcade Shooters, check out  Aces of the Galaxy.

Official Wii60 Review: Penny Arcade: On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 1

Penny Arcade: On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 1

Platform: Xbox 360, PC, Mac - Developer: Hothead Games
Genre: Adventure RPG - One Player

Reviewed by Chris Cesarano (a.k.a. Grohdinger)

Introduction:

The creators of online comic Penny Arcade Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, code-named Tycho and Gabe, are well known for their criticism and satire of the games industry. The pair have now themselves stepped into the realm of game development, and one must wonder if they are able to put their money where their mouth is.

After playing through the title, I can certainly say yes, they can.

Penny Arcade Adventures Out Today!

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

penny-arcade.jpg

Penny Arcade Fans will be happy to hear that the game has released  today. Not only for The Xbox 360, but also for the PC, Mac, and Linux. The game has had some pretty good reviews so far, but the price may turn some fans off. At $19.95 on any system, it is a bit expensive. However, this game is supposedly a feature-length game whose distribution just happens to be digital. In any case, give this one a try.

XBLA Gets Its Size Limit Upped, Now 350mb

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Xbox Live Arcade Logo2

For better or worse, XBLA has always had some sort of size limit (memory) for the games offered on its service. Mostly to allow owners without a hard drive to still be able to play and download them on memory cards. It started as 50mb, then a few games were given an exception to go higher and not to long after they bumped the limit to 150mb. Xbox Live Arcade’s David Edery told GamesIndustry.biz yesterday that they have upped the size limit to 350mb saying..

“We’ve been listening to our partners, listening to our customers to try and get a feel for what’s right.”

This is good news as hopefully it will mean games with a lot more depth will be hitting the service. Pick up and play games are great for the casual crowd, as well as change of pace for the rest of us but i’m sure a few of us would like something with a bit more substance. Still, i’m with the opinion that size does not = quality, no matter how many people use the argument that unlimited size will bring more quality games. It won’t, stop kidding yourself. Thanks to A Reaver for the tip.

Assault Heroes 2 Out Today!

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

assault-heroes.jpg

While many of you know my stance on Xbox Live Arcade shooters, this game may prove me wrong. Assault Heroes was a cult classic in a sense, anyone who bought the game pretty much fell in love with it. I guess the classic vehicular shooting mechanics get a lot of classic gamers happy. In any case, the sequel is out today for 800 Microsoft points.

Rocky and Bullwinkle and Battlezone Out… Yesterday

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

rocky.jpg

Sorry guys! I spaced making this post yesterday after picking up my copy of Okami on the Wii. Rocky and Bullwinkle is supposedly a really bad game. However, if you’re a fan of old school cartoons, this one might just be worth a trial. There is also another Atari classic, Battlezone, out today. Take your pick, Rocky and Bullwinkle will run you ten bucks, Battlezone will run you five.

Original Soulcalibur making its way to XBLA

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Original soulcalibur

Looking forward to the upcoming Soulcalibur IV (dated for July 29th)? There was some good news from the Namco Bandai Editor’s Day yesterday and that was the game that started it all, the original Soulcalibur making its way to XBLA! The good news is the game with be getting a face lift with HD graphics and will include local play, the bad news? There doesn’t seem to be any online play over XBLA as of yet. Come on Namco, make it happen! There is no current date announced besides “summer” which is a little vague.

Mr. Driller Live Out Now!

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Here is a Xbox Live Arcade title I find interesting. The cutesy art style may drive you all away, but the game is actually pretty fun. I personally own the DS version that I found on clearance, and wanted to try. It’s  sort of a puzzler in which you drill deeper into the Earth by drilling through colored blocks. If the same-colored blocks are touching, they disappear. In the end, I guess it’s just another chain-reaction puzzle game.

TiQal Out Now on The Xbox Live Arcade

tiqal.jpg

Here is a unique title, and it’s not a shooter, yay! Judging by the description and screenshots, it seems almost like a Tetris clone. However, never judge a book game by it’s cover. I’ll end up giving this game a trial, and hopefully I won’t end up addicted. I’m looking at you, Carcassonne.
