Lost Cities

This week’s Xbox Live Arcade game is the strategy card game Lost Cities. Lost Cities stays true to the original card game while translating to a easy to learn console experience. It features exotic locales from the frozen Himalayas to the sandy deserts of Egypt and will have online multiplayer with 3 friends over Xbox Live. Lost Cities will set you back 800 MSPs (or $10 USD) this Wednesday, April 23rd.

Rocky and Bullwinkle and Battlezone Out… Yesterday

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

rocky.jpg

Sorry guys! I spaced making this post yesterday after picking up my copy of Okami on the Wii. Rocky and Bullwinkle is supposedly a really bad game. However, if you’re a fan of old school cartoons, this one might just be worth a trial. There is also another Atari classic, Battlezone, out today. Take your pick, Rocky and Bullwinkle will run you ten bucks, Battlezone will run you five.

Original Soulcalibur making its way to XBLA

Original soulcalibur

Looking forward to the upcoming Soulcalibur IV (dated for July 29th)? There was some good news from the Namco Bandai Editor’s Day yesterday and that was the game that started it all, the original Soulcalibur making its way to XBLA! The good news is the game with be getting a face lift with HD graphics and will include local play, the bad news? There doesn’t seem to be any online play over XBLA as of yet. Come on Namco, make it happen! There is no current date announced besides “summer” which is a little vague.

Mr. Driller Live Out Now!

Here is a Xbox Live Arcade title I find interesting. The cutesy art style may drive you all away, but the game is actually pretty fun. I personally own the DS version that I found on clearance, and wanted to try. It’s  sort of a puzzler in which you drill deeper into the Earth by drilling through colored blocks. If the same-colored blocks are touching, they disappear. In the end, I guess it’s just another chain-reaction puzzle game.

TiQal Out Now on The Xbox Live Arcade

Here is a unique title, and it’s not a shooter, yay! Judging by the description and screenshots, it seems almost like a Tetris clone. However, never judge a book game by it’s cover. I’ll end up giving this game a trial, and hopefully I won’t end up addicted. I’m looking at you, Carcassonne.

Bliss Island and Brain Challenge Out Now

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Well, at least they’re not shooters. 2 original games are out on the Live Arcade this week.bliss-island.gif One of them appears to be a Brain Age clone, as if we don’t have enough of those already. The other game actually seems a bit interesting. It is a puzzler that has you play as “Hoshi the Zwooph.” Supposedly, you blow clouds out of your snout to solve puzzles across 25 challenges. Crazy enough? I think so.

Rocketmen: Axis of Evil Out Now!

Hoorah! Another Xbox Live Arcade shooter title! Are you guys amped, or what?!? Well I, for one, am getting a tad bit tired of all of these shooters. Regardless of the type, you can only play so many shooters before you barf. I can’t be the only one who feels this way. Whats your standpoint? Share it in the forums.

Triggerheart Exelica Out Now!

This is an interesting an unheard of title. I seriously don’t remember ever reading about this game. Supposedly this game is “a vertically scrolling Japanese arcade shooter” with “cute” weapons. I’m interested in seeing what it is like. Trust me, it was wasn’t the cute anime girl next to the title that drew me in.

N+ Out on the Arcade Now!

It’s always nice to see some Flash or Indie developer get a big break. N+ started as a Flash game that caught on well, and now it’s out on the XBLA. If you haven’t already, be sure to try the Flash version here. Happy collecting!

Commanders: Attack of the Genos and Discs of Tron Released!

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

tron1.jpg

2 new titles this week. Neither of them sound very appealing to me, but at least Commaders is something new, right? Discs of Tron will run you 400 points, while Commanders will set you back 800 points. I know I’ll end up trying Commanders sooner or later, we need some RTS action on the Marketplace.
